Global community is not serious about preserving planet Earth, Union Minister Kapil Sibal said today while unveiling Earth anthem and a short film.
The Earth Anthem, written produced and directed by Abhay Kumar, was released by Sibal in the presence of Minister of State for HRD Shashi Tharoor.
"Despite all the talk about climate change, global warming, the melting in the Antarctic and Arctic region, the global community is really not serious in taking steps forward to ensure that we preserve planet Earth," Sibal said.

He said it was important to have a rallying point where all people can come together to realise how important it is for them to maintain the dignity of our planet.
"I doubt homo-sapiens identify with planet Earth. We have issues of territorial, racial, religious identity, but these are all diversity which have an identity but is there any identity for planet Earth," Sibal said.
Terming the anthem as "a unique idea", Tharoor said, "the meaning of such an anthem is to pay tribute to our planet and to remind ourselves the responsibilities as global citizens..."
"We need to establish a common language and common icons, at time where emerging generations of global citizens would come to rally around us realising that they have to pay tribute to our planet that sustain us all.
