Govt examining setting up of an environment regulator

Government today said it has decided to do an in-depth analysis including examining the feasibility of setting up of an environment regulator.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Environment and Forests Minister Prakash Javadekar said that as regards setting up of an environment regulator, it has been decided to do an in-depth analysis including examining the feasibility of setting up of such a regulator.

Responding to another question, Javadekar said there are 23 hydro power projects that have been accorded environmental clearance in the country during the last three years.

While responding in a written reply to another question, Javadekar said the National Board for Wildlife has been reconstituted on July 22, 2014.
