Six persons, including three children, drowned today in two separate incidents in Ahmedabad and Patan districts in Gujarat, police said.
In Patan district, three children drowned in a pond in Madhutra village where they had gone for a swim, a Santalpur taluka police station official said.
In another incident in Ahmedabad district, a woman and two youths drowned in a lake in Lambha village, an Aslali police station official said.
"Five children from Madhutra village went for a swim at a pond when they started drowning. Locals rushed to save them, but three of the five had drowned by the time help reached them. Two children were saved," the official said.
He said the children were not accompanied by any adult person.

The deceased are identified as Bharat Rathod (7), Dharu Rathod (10), and Neha Rathod (9), he said.
The rescued children are identified as Hitesh Parmar (14) and Arti Parmar (9), the official said, adding that Hitesh was taken to a government hospital at Dharpur for treatment.
The deceased in the Lambha incident are identified as Ayesha Saiyad (35), Ashraf Ali (17), and Lawrence Christian (15), according to police.
