The Patel community of Gujarat, in a bid to press for their demands for reservation in Other Backward Castes (OBC) quota, will hold rallies in the state tomorrow.

The rallies will be held in Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha and Amreli districts.

"We will hold a rally in Gandhinagar tomorrow, where around 20,000 people from Patel Community will take part to press for our demands for reservation under OBC quota," Hardik Patel, member of Patidar Anamat Samiti (Patel reservation committee), told PTI.

"The other two rallies will be held in Himmatnagar town of Sabarkantha district and in Bagasara town of Amreli district tomorrow, where around 50,000 and 10,000 people will take part in both the districts, respectively," added Patel.

In all the three districts, the community members will give a memorandum of their demands to the respective district collectors, he added.

The rally at Gandhinagar will begin from 'Gh-0' area and will end at Chhavni area, he said.

The Patel community has been demanding for an OBC status to get benefits of reservation, since the last month.

The community members had earlier held a rally in Mehsana district on July 23 that had tuned violent after which police fired at least 10 tear gas shells to control the situation.
