HRTC to add 316 buses, 16 volvo to its fleet of 2,655 vehicles

The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) would soon add 316 new buses, including 16 Volvo buses to its existing fleet of 2,655 vehicles to provide better services to commuters.

During the past three years, 1,300 new buses have been added to the HRTC fleet and 365 routes have been opened. Online booking services for all types of buses originating from Shimla, Delhi, Manali, Chamba, Dharamsala, Kangra, Baijnath, Palampur, Mcleodganj, Hamirpur, Hardwar and Chandigarh, would now be extended to Rampur and Sarkaghat also, a spokesman of HRTC said.

The buses are equipped with GPS, CCTVs and passenger information systems and the state government is making efforts to connect all the historical and pilgrimage places with major towns by luxury bus services, he said.
 

The Corporation is currently plying buses on 2,400 routes, including the uneconomical routes in remote areas with an elevation ranging from 2,000 ft to 16,000 feet, covering 4.60 lakh km daily, the spokesman said.
