James Fernandes and Albino Pereira scored a goal each as Salgaocar registered a 2-0 win over Sporting Clube de Goa in the AIFF's U-19 I-league (Goa Zone) at Don Bosco ground here today.

Sporting Clube de Goa had their key players missing today with goalkeeper Alison Fernandes yet to recover from an injury while tough-tackling stopper back Roshan Singh, winger Papai Biswas and captain Charles Cardoz were all out through suspension.

The Flaming Oranje put up a good fight and rattled the crossbar on two separate occasions.

In the first half, Aniket Mandraker smashed the woodwork, while after resumption, substitute Mauvin Borges fired against the bar with a stinging drive from a distance.

Sporting were unlucky as James Fernandes opened the scoring for Salgaocar in the third minute of injury time in the first half, finishing with a deft placement.

Thirteen minutes into the second session Albino doubled Salgaocar's lead from close distance.

Salgaocar, who finished their league engagement, are second with 16 points from eight matches while Sporting Clube de Goa, who have a match in hand, are third with 10 points from seven matches.
