Music lovers in the city were treated to a three-day jazz festival here which witnessed maestros from the USA, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Mexico, Australia and India performing on the same platform.

'JazzFest 2013' saw some of the celebrated figures of the genre with the likes of two-time Grammy nominee Cuban American drummer Dafnis Prieto, Germany's famous bass player Kai Eckhardt, noted double bass player and composer Carlos Bica, top Dutch saxophonist Yuri Honing, Czech superstar Milan Svoboda and eminent American composer George Brooks.

The eleventh jazz festival was organised by Congo Square, a non-profit music society, at The Dalhousie Institute.

Jazz music, which is often categorised as music for the erudite, is now gaining a strong foothold in the younger generation of music lovers, said the festival's organiser Satyajit Roy Chaudhury.
