Kerala Govt presents special award to Yesudas

Kerala Government today presented a special award to eminent playback singer and carnatic vocalist K J Yesudas for his overall contributions in diverse fields.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy bestowed the honour on Yesudas at a function held at the Durbar Hall of the government secretariat here.

The award comprised a purse of of Rs one lakh and a citation.

After receiving the award, the veteran singer said all political parties should stand united in the case of development programmes.

Cultural Affairs Minister K C Joseph and Opposition leader V S Achutanandan were also present.
