The CPI(M)-led Left Front today took out a massive rally in the city demanding withdrawal of the "anti-farmer" Land Ordinance and burnt copies of it.

"We demand immediate withdrawal of the Land Ordinance. This is anti-farmer and anti-constitutional. We are protesting against it," Left Front Chairman Biman Bose said while addressing the rally.

"Remove BJP and save the country from communalism and neo-liberalism. Remove TMC and save Bengal from corruption and terrorism," Bose said.

The rally, which witnessed a big turnout, started from Mahajati Sadan in north Kolkata to Rani Rasmoni road in the central part.

The rally came as a sort of morale-booster for the Left which suffered a string of electoral reverses recently.

Bose also took a dig at the Trinamool Congress leadership for planning to take out a similar rally against the Land Ordinance tomorrow, pointing out its hypocritical stand on the issue.

"They are fighting here and have a friendship in Delhi; the less we talk about them the better," Bose said.
