The city-based L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) today announced the opening of its third secondary centre in Odisha.

The facility at Berhampur, about 200km from the state capital Bhubaneswar, will be overall the 15th secondary centre of LVPEI, a not-for-profit, comprehensive eye care institution.

The Arjun Waney Eye Centre at Berhampur, supported by the Savitri Waney Charitable Foundation, would be inaugurated tomorrow by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the institute said in a statement here.

"LVPEI's endeavour is to provide high-quality, low- cost, self-sustaining permanent eye care infrastructure in under-served areas of the country. Therefore, LVPEI has set up the eye centre at Berhampur in partnership with the Savitri Waney Charitable Foundation and Mission for Vision," it said.

The facility would provide comprehensive eye care to all communities in need, it added.
