Maharashtra minorities department is likely to table a proposal in the state Cabinet meeting tomorrow seeking approval for imparting regular education in madrasas (Islamic seminaries) along with religious course.
"We will table a proposal seeking approval for academic education in madrasas, so that students from the minority community can also learn other languages like Hindi, Marathi and English," a source said.
He said the department would also seek appointment of teachers in madrasas to teach these languages.
"A separate fund of Rs 2 lakh will be allocated for the madrasas imparting academic education," according to the source.
