Following protests by parents over making it a girls school, Mahadevi Birla World Academy has been closed down temporarily from today.
"The school will remain closed till further notice due to the prevailing tension and for the safety of our students. Examination if any, are postponed till further intimation," a notice issued by the school authorities said.
The school has recently announced that it would turn into an all-girls school from the next academic session. This sparked off protests by parents of boys at the gate of the campus after which the decision to shut gates temporarily was taken.

The authorities tried to convince angry parents saying that the existing boys in KG, Class I & II will continue to be with them in a co-ed environment with the best of care and facilities provided.
"They are ours and we are fully responsible for their education and care. The name uniform logo and ethos of the school will remain unchanged," the authorities said.
