Mhaisekar is new VC of Maha University of Health Science

Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of Universities in the state Ch Vidyasagar Rao today appointed Dr Deelip Govindrao Mhaisekar as the new Vice Chancellor of the Maharashtra University of Health Science (MUHS) in Nashik.

Dr Mhaisekar is presently serving as Dean (Additional Charge) and Professor and Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine at the Dr Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College in Nanded.

He has been appointed to the post of VC for a term of five years with effect from the date he assumes the charge of the office of the VC, a release from Raj Bhavan said.

He succeeds Dr Arun Jamkar whose term ended on December 20 last year. Eknath Dawale was serving as acting Vice Chancellor of MUHS.
 

Dr Mhaisekar, holds an MBBS and MD (TB & Chest Medicine) and has a vast experience of teaching, research and administration, it added.

The Governor had appointed a search committee under the chairmanship of Dr Nikhil Tandon of AIIMS seeking recommendations for the post.

Rao interviewed all the candidates recommended by the committee earlier today and announced the name of Dr Mhaisekar, it added.
