"The Muppet" star Miss Piggy is all set to receive an award for being one of the world's most famous feminist by a prestigious New York museum.

Miss Piggy is being honoured with the 2015 Sackler Centre First Award for her four-decade long career on June 4 and will appear in conversation with activist and author Gloria Steinem. Kermit the Frog is also expected to attend, reported New York Post.

The Brooklyn Museum's Elizabeth A Sackler Centre for Feminist Art explained that the award honours "women who are first in their fields".

Explaining why Miss Piggy has been chosen, it added: "The 2015 Sackler Centre First Awards honors performer, actor, writer, and icon Miss Piggy, for more than 40 years of blazing feminist trails with determination and humour, and for her groundbreaking role inspiring generations the world over."

Previous winners of the award include director Julie Taymor, attorney and professor Anita Hill, and Sandra Day O'Connor, who was the first woman appointed to the US Supreme Court.
