The body of a six-year-old boy, who went missing from northeast Delhi's Welcome area last evening, was today found floating in Sanjay Jheel, police said.

Abbas, who lived with his family at Janta colony in Welcome area, had gone to play along with his friends at DDA park adjacent to Sanjay Jheel (lake) yesterday. However, he did not return till late in the evening, prompting his parents to launch a search for him, police said.

Later they approached the police and a case of disappearance was registered and probe launched, DCP (north east) A K Singla said, adding, "The body of the boy was found around 10 AM (today)".

The guards at the lake and the park told police that children often went to the park and played there but they had not noticed Abbas, Singla said.

The body has been sent for autopsy and its report was awaited to determine the exact cause of death, he said.
