Nothing wrong in Jasodaben seeking info on PM's marriage doc

Congress today saw nothing wrong in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's wife Jashodaben seeking to know the marriage related documents he had submitted to get his passport.

"She is legitimately entitled to ask as to how did her spouse got the passport," party spokesman Manish Tewari said when asked about the RTI application filed by her with Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Ahmedabad seeking details about the marriage-related documents Modi had submitted to get his passport when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat.

The plea was made after her application for passport was rejected in November last year on the ground that she did not produce a marriage certificate or a joint affidavit to prove that she is married to Modi.

Tewari said if the Prime Minister's wife wants a passport, then it is surprising that the government has decided to "quibble on trivialities".

She should have been given a passport but if she has been ostensibly denied possibly for evidence of a marriage certificate "then she is legitimately entitled to ask as to how did her spouse got it", he added.
