NSDC, Delhi University ink pact for skill based UG programmes

In an initiative aimed to benefit over 4 lakh students every year, National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) has inked an agreement with the University of Delhi to introduce skill-based training programmes as a part of the undergraduate (UG) study programmes.

"This is a big opportunity for students who wish to supplement their theoretical knowledge with practical hands-on training that will improve their employability in the increasingly competitive job market in the country and transform their lives," NSDC MD & CEO Dilip Chenoy said.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked yesterday, will cover UG programmes conducted in colleges and institutions at the University of Delhi, including the School of Open Learning and Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board.

Bengal Speech and Hearing to have 500 centers in next 10 years * Bengal Speech and Hearing Aid, which is aiming to have 500 centers in next 10 years, today forayed in the city by opening seven centers.

The company which runs audiology and speech & language pathology centers has opened seven new centers in NCR and has plans to add another eight by the end of this fiscal, taking its count to 15.

Moreover, to support its expansion plans, Bengal Speech and Hearing has plans to open a new speech and hearing college at Kolkata in next two years.

IDBI Federal launches 'Whole Life Savings Insurance Plan' * Private insurer IDBI Federal Life today announced the launch of Whole Life Savings Insurance Plan - a non-linked participating plan that provides life cover up to 100 years.

"The average life expectancy rate in India has increased from 63.9 years in 2004, to 69.6 years in 2014. Whole Life Savings Insurance plan is designed for individuals who seek financial protection for life, want to plan a milestone event using guaranteed return, lump sum payout and wish to leave a legacy for their loved ones," IDBI Federal Life Insurance CEO Vighnesh Shahane said in a release issued here.
