A four-year-old child was killed and two other persons were injured today after a four-story residential building collapsed in Abaseya district near the Cairo Cathedral here, according to the Ministry of Health.
Six ambulance vehicles rushed to the spot and injured were transferred to the hospital, Hosam Abdel Ghafar, the Ministry of Health spokesperson said.
Building collapses are common in Egypt due to illegal extensions and failure to adopt construction guidelines.

The collapse was caused by unauthorised construction of several extra stories on the old building.
