Eminent neurologist and professor Dr Sunil Pradhan has been conferred with DSc (Honoris Causa) in Jabalpur by a university of Madhya Pradesh university.
Pradhan, a Padma Shri and a pioneer in the field of neuroscience research, was honoured by the governor during 28th convocation of Rani Durgavati University Jabalpur yesterday by Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav, spokesperson of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences here said.
Pradhan is a professor in Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences.

In the past, he had been conferred with FRCP (Honoris Causa) by Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh.
The other awards conferred on him earlier include Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Award (CSIR), Amrut Mody Unichem Award, Shakuntala Amirchand Award, H B Dingley Award, Vigyan Gaurav Samman and Vigyan Ratna Samman of Council of Science and Technology Uttar Pradesh.
Pradhan did his medical schooling from King George's Medical College, Lucknow and he had worked in different capacities at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai, NIMHANS, Bangalore and Nizam' Institute in Hyderabad before joining SGPGIMS, Lucknow in 1989.
Two of his landmark discoveries have been proposed to be called after his name as "Pradhan sign" in Duchenne muscular dystrophy and "Pradhan's Method" for electrophysiological study of intercostals nerves.
He also has a distinction of discovering five new clinical signs in muscle diseases.
