Parcel van of a train caught fire near Chilikidhara railway station in Odisha's Keonjhar district today, railway officials said.
No one was hurt in the incident and all passengers of Kendujhargarh-Bhubaneswar Passenger train are safe as only the parcel van, which was next to the engine of the train was affected due to the fire, they said.
After getting information about smoke billowing out of the parcel van, immediate steps were taken to detach the engine and coaches of the train, an official of East Coast Railway (ECoR) said.
The fire brigade was called to extinguish the fire and the overhead electricity was suspended in the route while dousing the flame in the parcel van.
The parcel van was loaded with materials by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Keonjhar railway station, he said.
Cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and the exact reason would be ascertained after proper inquiry, the official said.
Some trains including 18416 Puri-Kendujhargarh Inter City and 58426 Bhubaneswar-Kebdujhargarh Passenger have been rescheduled due to the incident.
