Polls closed today in Malaysia's high-stakes election in which scandal-hit Prime Minister Najib Razak faces a tough challenge from 92-year-old former strongman Mahathir Mohamad.
Polling centres closed at 5:00 pm (local time) across the country.
There was no immediate word on the final turnout, with the last update from the Election Commission at 3:00 pm (local time)showing that 69 per cent of registered voters had cast ballots.
