Preparations on for mega religious ceremony of Jains

Divisional Revenue Commissioner Eknath Davle and other senior officials reviewed the ongoing preparations for a major religious ceremony of the Jain community, schedule next month at Mangi Tungi area near here.

Davle, along with district collector Dipendrasinh Kushwah, took a stock of the ongoing works yesterday at Jain pilgrim place Mangi Tungi, located around 125 kms away from here, for the 'Maha mastaka abhishek' (ceremony) of the 108-feet idol of deity Rishabhdev Dev, an official release issued here said.

Davle instructed officials of the departments concerned to complete the works by the end of January. Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Mohite, who was also present at the inspection, apprised that tents are being erected for devotees, arrangement are being made to install 10 booths to render medical facilities, two control rooms and as many mobile centres will also be set up.
 

State-run transporter MSRTC will run extra buses from different places in the district to carry pilgrims for the ceremony, it said.
