SC commission team visits caste clash-hit village

A two-member team of National Commission for Scheduled Castes today visited a village where a Dalit colony was allegedly ransacked and 15 persons injured in a caste clash recently.

Commission Director Dr D Venkatesan and Investigator J Eniyan visited the affected places in Paramathy Velur Valavanthinadu and heard the Dalit victims.

Two groups of caste Hindu and Dalit communities clashed last week during which an Adi Dravidar colony was ransacked. Fifteen persons from both groups were injured.

Venkatesan assured full protection to the Adi Dravidar community people and said steps would be taken to get them compensation from state and central governments.
 

He also held a meeting with District Collector V Dakshinamurthy and Superintendent of Police P.Kannamma, officials said.
