Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) today dropped plans to take disciplinary action against senior players Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara.

"We have sorted out the matter by talking to the two players," SLC Chairman Jayantha Dharmadasa said.

The SLC was responding to public pressure as the decision to put the two seniors on the mat drew wide scale protests from fans.

The governing body last week referred the matter to a disciplinary committee.

The controversial remarks by the duo came at the press conference held after the Sri Lankan team's return from Bangladesh where they won the World T20 title beating India in the final.

The two seniors made remarks which were critical of the SLC administration over comments made by them on their retirement plans from T20 cricket.

Dharmadasa clarified that the move was not to discipline the two players but to seek clarifications over their comments.
