Two personnel of the Assam Forest Protection Force battalion were seriously injured in an encounter with poachers in the Kaziranga National Park this evening, forest department officials said.
The two men of the battalion deployed in the World Heritage Site's Burapahar range received bullet injuries during the exchange of fire with the animal hunters, the officials said.
They were initially admitted to a hospital at Jakhalabandha but were later shifted to Nagaon Civil hospital in neighbouring Nagaon district, they said.
