V Sivaramakrishnan was today named the new Managing Director of Oxford University Press India (OUPI) with regional responsibilities including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
He succeeds Ranjan Kaul, who will be retiring this month end after working with OUP for 14 years.
Sivaramakrishnan will join OUP India from Manipal Global Education Services, a leading privately-owned service provider to the higher education and training sectors. During his stint as Chief Marketing Officer and then Executive President for Education Services, he has overseen seven years of strong business development, improved quality assurance, and the effective delivery of supporting technology platforms, an OUPI statement said.

He also worked with Ford Motor Company and Proctor and Gamble.
Speaking on Sivaramakrishnan's appointment, Adrian Mellor, OUP's Managing Director (Asia Education) said, "Oxford University Press has been operating in India for over 100 years. During that period there has rarely been such an exciting time - a time of transition, with digital delivery becoming more important for teachers and students, and a time of opportunity, as parents and students invest in education.
"Siva's leadership of our growing operation in India will use his experience in the education services sector to further enhance the Press's deep understanding of publishing for schools, colleges and universities."
Sivaramakrishnan will join his new assignment in mid-November and the senior management team for OUP India will report directly to him, the statement said, adding he will also join the Asia Education divisional board of OUP.
