Bollywood tweets for a better India on R-Day

With hopes for a peaceful future and showing their pride in being Indians, Bollywood stars took to Twitter today to wish their fans a happy Republic Day.

"On the auspicious occasion of Republic Day, heartfelt wishes to all Indians," tweeted Amitabh Bachchan.

Actress Bipasha Basu wrote, "This Republic day, I want my country to be 'saare jahaan se achchaa' in the true sense! Wish for a peaceful, healthy, literate nation. Happy Republic Day!"

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur posted, "As a child I saw 26th Jan as a holiday. Now I see it as a day of reevaluation of what we could have done and all that needs to be done for the nation."

"Great to wake up to the day our Constitution was introduced. Lazy day in bed with son daughter & now to tell them the story of our Republic," posted Shah Rukh Khan.

"Gantantantra diwas mubarak (Happy Republic Day)! Cheers to all things Indian, and cheers to being Indian! Jai Hind!," posted Sonakshi Sinha.

"Watching the republic day parade with my kids!!! Feel so proud to see the diversity and vibrancy of our country and culture! Jai hind," tweeted actress Juhi Chawla.

Lara Dutta wrote, "Wishing all Indian twitter friends a very Happy Republic Day! Don't forget to watch the march past!:-)

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh tweeted, "'Saare jahaan se achcha HINDUSTAN humaraa'. Jai hind!"

Actor Purab Kohli posted a video made by him showing a kid making a sand castle on the beach, while an instrumental version of the National Anthem plays in the background.

It ends with the words: "Young India is at work. Guidance required."

Stars like Abhishek Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Mallika Sherawat, Sonam Kapoor, Genelia D'Souza, Raima Sen, Riteish Deshmukh, Ameesha Patel, Dia Mirza and Tusshar Kapoor also tweeted 'Happy Republic Day".
