	World Coconut Day is observed on September 2 to commemorate the formation of Asian Pacific Coconut Community (APCC).&nbsp; The APCC is headquartered at Jakarta, Indonesia and all major coconut growing countries including India are members of APCC. On September 2, the world celebrates one of nature&rsquo;s healthiest foods and promotes the uses and importance of Coconuts.</div>

India currently is the third largest coconut producer with Indonesia at the top.</div>

	In India, the Coconut Development Board (CDB) conducts various events in different parts of the country on the World Coconut Day. During the occasion, national awards will be presented to those who have excelled in coconut farming, industry, and other coconut related activities. In 2019, coconut day event in the country was held in Assam. During the event, the board acknowledged Assam as the next major coconut producing the state in India. About 33,493 hectares in all seven North East states are under coconut cultivation, Assam alone cultivates 20,368 hectares.</div>
