		Sukanta Majumdar is an Indian politician. Born in December, 1979, Sukanta is a Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) from the Balurghat constituency in West Bengal since 2019. Apart from being an LS MP, Majumdar is also an Union minister. He serves as an MoS of two ministries namely education and development of north eastern region.</div>

		Sukanta Majumdar, who has a longstanding association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), became the first-time parliamentarian from the Balurghat in 2019 after defeating Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Arpita Ghosh with a margin of 33,293 votes.</div>

		In 2024 LS polls, Majumdar defeated TMC&#39;s Biplab Mitra by a margin of over 10,000 votes.</div>
