Who is Naveen Jindal

Industrialist Naveen Jindal is a Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra, Haryana. He is also the Chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Limited and Chancellor of the OP Jindal Global University.

Education
The youngest son of industrialist Om Prakash Jindal, Naveen was born in 1970 in Hisar, Haryana. He studied at Campus School, CCS HAU and Delhi Public School before graduating in Commerce from Hans Raj College, Delhi University in 1990. He completed his MBA at the University of Texas at Dallas in 1992.

Political career
In 2004, Jindal contested elections from the Kurukshetra constituency on an Indian National Congress (INC) ticket and won. He was re-elected in the 2009 general elections. He lost the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Kurukshetra.

After resigning from primary membership of the INC on 24 March 2024, he joined the BJP. He ran as a BJP candidate in the 2024 Indian General Election and won.

Naveen Jindal moved a private member Bill for a comprehensive Food and Nutrition Security Scheme which became the basis for the Food Security Act. Also, it was after Jindal’s continuous efforts and prolonged commitment to the issue that got Indian citizens the right to fly the national flag on all days. It was in Jindal’s case on the subject that the Supreme Court of India ruled in a landmark judgment in 2004 that every Indian had the right to fly the tricolour.

Jindal had his fair share of controversies, too — from allegations of involvement in the 2012 Coalgate scam to undue preferences in mining allocations to his companies.
