Who is Rohit Sharma?

Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian team in limited-overs formats and the vice-captain in Test cricket. Sharma is a right-handed batsman, right-arm off-break bowler. He is also the captain of Mumbai Indians team in the Indian Premier League.
 
Rohit Sharma's life and education
 
Sharma was born on April 30, 1987, in Maharashtra's Nagpur. He is married to Ritika Sajdeh and the couple has a daughter together. Sharma has done his schooling at Swami Vivekanand International School and Junior College, Mumbai and Our Lady of Vailankanni High School, Mumbai.
He joined a cricket camp in 1999 and was coached by Dinesh Lad there.
 
Rohit Sharma's career
 
Sharma started his career by making his List A debut for West Zone in Deodhar Trophy against Central Zone in Gwalior in March 2005.
 
He made his first-class debut in July 2006 for India A against New Zealand A in Darwin. In the 2006-07 season, Sharma made his Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai against Gujarat. He was made the captain of the Mumbai team in October 2013, after the retirement of Ajit Agarkar.
 
Sharma made his Test debut at Kolkata's Eden Gardens in November 2013 against West Indies.
 
He made his debut in the Cricket World Cup in March 2015 and played eight matches for India for the tournament in Australia. He scored 330 runs with one century in the tournament.
 
Sharma in the 2019 Cricket World Cup series, in a match against Sri Lanka, scored five centuries, becoming the first batsman to do so. He made 648 runs in the tournament, becoming the leading run-scorer and winning the ICC's Golden Bat award.
 
He scored his 2,000th run in October 2019, in the third Test against South Africa, where he also hit his first double century. Replacing Cheteshwar Pujara, Sharma became vice-captain of India's Test team in 2020 during the team's tour of Australia.
 
Sharma scored his first overseas Test Century in September 2011 against England at The Oval, where he also reached the target of 3,000 runs in Test cricket.
 
In January 2022, he was named captain of the Indian team for the limited-overs series against the West Indies.
