Vishnu Chemicals Ltd, a manufacturer of sodium chromium and barium chemical compounds, has acquired the Hyderabad-based Solvay Vishnu Barium Private Limited - a joint venture company of Belgium’s Solvay and Vishnu Chemicals. “The company has made investments in Solvay Vishnu Barium Private Limited and acquired 100 percent share capital of the said company by making the said company as subsidiary with 100 percent holding,” said Vishnu Chemicals in a BSE filing on August 19, 2015.
Solvay Vishnu Barium, which has a manufacturing site located in Kalahasti (Andhra Pradesh), is one of the leading barium carbonate manufacturers in India. Kalahasti facility has the capacity to produce 40,000 tonnes per annum of barium carbonate and 6,000 tonnes per annum of elemental sulphur, as per Solvay website. Barium carbonate is mainly used in bricks, ceramic, glass and cement industries.
