Riddhima Kapoor-Sawhney is the new brand ambassador for the Kaya skin care brand. Why? wonders Abhilasha Ojha, when she is not the film star in the family...
You are the brand ambassador for Kaya, the skin care brand. You’re not an actor, nor a socialite, but you’ve been selected to promote the brand. Feels good?
Yes, it does. I suppose I’m more approachable than the rest of my family members who are from the film fraternity (laughs). In that sense, I hope I can convey the values of the brand to as many people and connect.
We hope so too. But tell me frankly, aren’t people from the media asking you about your brother Ranbir Kapoor instead?
(Laughs) It happens all the time and yes, it’s happening even now. Sometimes, when I go out, even then people want to come and talk to me about my mum, dad and, of course, my brother.
Should I do the same?
Oh no. But even before you do, let me tell you, he’s a regular guy and if there’s more that you wish to know, please go and ask him.
On a serious note, how did the association with Kaya come about?
I’ve been going to Kaya for a long time now. When the brand first came to Mumbai, I had just come from London and was concerned about how the climate change had suddenly affected my skin. So I went to Kaya with my mum and I was so happy with the results that I kept going back again and again.
So how often do you get skin treatments done?
I feel it makes ample sense to go once in three weeks at the very least. See, that’s how you’ll see the results for yourself. You need to be regular with beauty treatments.

But you’re blessed with good genes. Why would you need beauty treatments so often?
No, I’m not blessed with good genes as far as my skin type is concerned. I have grappled with problems of breakouts and pimples too. That’s why I have to keep going for therapies offered by Kaya. I love, for example, the Kaya Glow. It’s fabulous and suits me well.
Last word, what’s happening in your brother’s personal life?
Like I said, ask him.
