, CEO, NIIT Technologies, is happy to have held off buying a new mobile phone this year in anticipation of Apple's upcoming iPhone. Although this technology executive can't create playlists on his music player without his daughter's help, he would like to invent a contraption to improve his backswing on the green.

What are your favourite gadgets?
I cannot survive without my mobile, a Sony Ericsson T610. I bought it when it was just launched, a few years ago, and for more than its smart looks. I like it for the operational comfort it lends.

What is the next gadget on your must-buy list?
My current mobile is superannuated and so a next-generation, touch-sensitive, intuitive device like the Apple iPhone will be ideal. My MP3 player also needs to evolve and it will be great to have a widescreen phone coupled with an iPod.

If you could create one dream gadget, what would it be?
A golf gadget which can slow my backswing, shift the weight from the back to the front foot, turn the hips, keep the head down and complete the swing in one smooth motion. Basically, a gadget that can improve my golf swing.

If you were a gadget, what would it be?
I'd like to be a geo-positional device like TomTom because then I can explore the world without ever getting lost.

What has been your most embarrassing tech moment?
Once when I attached my laptop for a client presentation, the screen refused to come alive. No amount of rebooting or playing with the function keys could get it going. Finally, it was our pantry assistant who came to my rescue.

Tell us about one wacky gadget you had fun experimenting with.
It was a flight simulator, which I experienced on one of my visits to the UK. The simulator of an Airbus A380 cockpit showed the runway at Singapore's Changi airport and the visualisation inside and outside was as real as it gets. With me in the captain's seat, I took off from Changi en route to Kuala Lumpur. It was a mind-blowing experience that also makes me one of the few who have flown an A380!
