A relative of Ayesha Siddiqui, the Hyderabad girl, who has claimed she was married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, today alleged that she had physical intimacy with him and subsequently suffered a miscarriage.
But 28-year-old Shoaib told police this morning at the Jubilee Hills residence of 23-year-old tennis star Sania Mirza that he had been tricked into marriage with Ayesha, 29, and that to this day, he has not met the girl whose photographs were sent to him by the Siddiqui family purported to be that of Ayesha.
Dr Shams Babar, the relative of the Siddiquis, while addressing a press conference outside their residence in Banjara Hills here, claimed that Ayesha had a miscarriage and that information on it was part of "several proofs" that were handed over to the police to "nail" Shoaib.
"It is true Ayesha had a miscarriage, but I cannot tell when (the year) it happened. All reports (on the miscarriage) and other proofs have been given to the police today. We have enough proof against Shoaib and these are on things which went beyond marriage," he claimed.
Representing the Siddiqui’s before the media, the doctor demanded public apology from Shoaib for allegedly cheating Ayesha.
"He should acknowledge the marriage with Ayesha and now give her divorce. If he does so we are prepared to drop the charges against Shoaib," Babar said.
"We do not want any monetary damages or help from Shoaib. If the things are set right, we have no objection to the proposed marriage of Shoaib and Sania Mirza. It’s (an issue) only between Siddiqui’s and Shoaib Malik," he said.
The Pakistani cricketer had yesterday claimed that he was emotionally forced into the 'nikahnama' with the Hyderabad girl but said the marriage was invalid as her family had cheated him and ruled out divorce.
