Actually, my first choice is the City, but since it's out of my budget, I have selected the Hyundai Accent GLS. I drove it and I found it's a great machine and falls within my budget. |
However, I have heard about some body corrosion problems that happen after two years of use. I'm a car enthusiast and would like to keep my car with me as long as possible. |
The car should also provide value for money. Hope you'll provide me a good solution in this regard, thanks in advance. Avinash, via email If you like the Accent and the only thing worrying you is body corrosion, we recommend you to buy one. We have not heard of any incident where the Accent's body corroded within two years. |
As you said correctly, the Accent is a nice all-rounder and comes with very peppy powerplants too. We particularly like the idea of the CRDi " but this might prove just a bit out of your budget. |
Also test drive the Maruti Suzuki Baleno " this car, after the latest price correction, is a compelling mid-size choice (especially if you have five passengers to transport), despite its age. |
Small confusion |
I am planning to buy a car and I am now confused after visiting the showrooms. |
I have narrowed down my choice to three " the Zen LXi, the Santro Xing XG and the Palio NV 1.2 ELX. I stay in Bangalore with my wife (no kids, as of now). |
We both are working and the car will be basically used by my wife for her convenience. We don't like the looks of Wagon R too much. To speak my heart out, I like the Palio but am concerned about the mileage, spare parts availability and dealer support. |
People say Fiat is still not up to the mark in service and the parts are costly. The Zen seems to be a good buy, but the space inside (especially the back) is not satisfactory, though fuel economy is good. |
Moreover, the new Zen does not look better than the old one. Last comes the Xing. It's fine, but somehow I feel that its looks are not as elegant as the Palio or the Zen and I am concerned about the mileage and the spares costs too. Another important point for me is the re-sale value after four years. Please advise. Hitesh Deka, Bangalore You can't have the cake and eat it too, right? Well you can, if you buy the Santro. The Zen and Palio may not retain the same value after four years " the former has been around for a long time and the latter may get a facelift in some time. |
So we suggest you buy the Santro Xing XS " it may not have the Italian looks or the Japanese jellybean's efficiency, but admit it, this is a successful city car and should return 11-12 kpl if you drive carefully. |
