The Ahmedabad-based Centre for Environment Education (CEE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in the UK to offer Masters degree in Ecotourism. |
The MoU, which was signed on Tuesday, formalised the partnership ahead of the launch of the course. |

The course is due to start in in September and the students can choose to study both in India and the UK. |

"This masters degree will be an innovative course that combines traditional academic study with practical skills-based workshops, all design to equip graduates with the tools and knowledge so evidently lacking in much of the tourism industry." |

With opportunities for ecotourism professionals multiplying, the launch of this course is well timed. |

"The need for experts in the management and planning of more sustainable forms of tourism has never been greater. Ecotourism has the potential of providing sustainable livelihoods," said Kartikeya Sarabhai, director, CEE. |

"Graduates of these course will be able to work at the interface of communities and environments, assisting local people develop their tourism potential while actively helping to conserve natural resources, something critical to the future of tourism in India and beyond," said Chris Southgate of UCLan. |

The Indian campus is expected to enroll around 15 students from the Southeast Asian region, sources said. |
