With my family of five and our love for a religiously followed tradition of weekend picnics, I have been extremely tempted to trade my t(rusty) M800 for a new Versa 5-seater.

This car is being offered at an incredibly low price - around Rs 3.5 lakh or so, I believe. I don't mind the lack of a power steering system, but was wondering whether I could fit an aftermarket air-conditioner for the car. If I can, then which one should I choose and how much might it cost me?

The idea is indeed an attractive one, though we do have reservations about aftermarket-tinkering with the electrical system. The aircon job might also void the warranty on your car, so consider the options carefully before you take the decision.

Assuming you choose to go ahead with your plan, a Superking compressor is a safe investment, though only a very competent, specialist air con mechanic should approached for the job.

See that the aircon is wired as close as to original as possible, with the proper fuse in the fusebox incorporated. The project will set you back by about Rs 25,000, give or take a few thousand.
