Rahul Dravid was today retained as captain for India's tour of Bangladesh, England and Ireland by the BCCI which announced radical steps including curtailment of players' endorsements in the wake of the debacle in the World Cup.With controversial Greg Chappell having stepped down as the coach, the Board fell back on three former Indian players to take up various roles during the Bangladesh tour beginning May 7 for which it directed the selection of a young team.Ravi Shastri, former captain, will be the manager, Venkatesh Prasad, medium-pacer who retired from international cricket in 2001 was made the bowling coach and former all-rounder Robin Singh the fielding coach for the tour of Bangladesh where the team will play two Tests and three one-dayers.No coach was appointed and speculation about a possible future role for Chappell continued with the BCCI President Sharad Pawar wanting him continue his association with Indian cricket. The Australian, suffering from "strain", went for a check-up to a hospital which gave him a clean bill of health.The most significant decisions taken at the two-day meeting of the BCCI top brass here pertained to curtailment of players' endorsements and abolition of graded system of contracts.
