The fifth one-day international between India and England to be held at the Nehru Stadium, Guwahati was abandoned, without a ball being bowled, as unseasonal rains over the last few days had rendered the outfield soggy.Citing "unplayable ground conditions", umpires Rudi Koertzen and A V Jayprakash called off the match after consulting the captains of both teams at 1:15 in the afternoon today. The umpires decision sparked off wild protests by a section of the crowd and the police had to resort to the use of tear gas to control the mob. The next match of the series will be held in Jamshedpur on April 12. India have already won the seven match series 4-0.
