Global firms to take part in ACMEE '06

Global sourcing firms including Cummins, Scania, Packar-DAF and Volvo among others are expected to participate in the seventh edition of ACMEE 2006, an international industrial trade exhibition to be held in Chennai during June 8-12, 2006, to look at the potential of meeting their sourcing-requirements from Indian auto component manufacturers.
 
Addressing a press conference, K S Jeyaraman, convenor - ACMEE 2006, said that there would be an exclusive pavilion that would display components and services to the global sourcing team.
 
This year's exhibition will also provide a platform for the women entrepreneurs to showcase their engineering products, he added.
 
K P Shashidar Rao said that around 400 companies are expected to participate in the five-day exhibition and one-third of the participants would be from the automotive sector.
 
The event, which will have a stall area of 4500 sq mt including 600 sq m for international participation, is expected to generate business worth at least Rs 60 crore and attract around 175,000 visitors.
 
Apart from local participants, companies from Russia, UK, Italy, Germany, Taiwan, Israel, Korea, Australia and Sri Lanka are also expected to participate. Over 50 per cent of space has already been booked and five international companies, like Mitsubishi have confirmed their participation.
 
Started in 1994, ACMEE, which signifies five thrust areas such as automobiles and allied services, computers and peripherals, machinery and machine tools, electricals and equipment and electronics and controls, has been providing a platform for the manufacturers to showcase/launch their new products and technologies.
 
The Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA) and AIEMA Technology Centre, a technology upliftment arm of the association, have been organising this biennial engineering exhibition.
 

High tech habitat centre at TANSI land

AIEMA Technology Centre (ATC) has sought the attention of chief minister of the state and the government to look at the possibility of developing a high tech habitat centre at the 10 acre TANSI land at the Ambattur Industrial Estate.

Dilip Kumbhat, Chairman, ATC told reporters that the big area of TANSI land, which has been lying idle for decades, could be used as a multi purpose hightech habitat centre with hangars to accommodate exhibition of equipment and plants to such dimensions as in Hannover, Germany to attract international players.
