Offering the sportiness of a motorcycle and the convenience and comfort of a scooter, this low-emission, environmentally friendly two-wheeler is loaded with safety and convenience features. |
The Griffon's world-leading advanced technology was developed for actual use.' What those technologies are, we're still not sure. And what the entire spiel hints at is that it's not going to be put into production either. |
The other end of the aesthetic spectrum was the PS250, which seems like a crossover between a kiddie's push-bike and a scooter. |
Honda calls it 'a rough and tough vehicle specially designed to suit the tastes and needs of the younger generation.' Yeah, right. |
And as if to take back the accusation of bad taste, the press release also carries this little disclaimer - 'Owners can customize the PS250 to suit their tastes.' |
Tricker treat |
Here's something that might excite worshippers of the X-Games on AXN, the Yamaha XG250 Tricker. |
Yamaha claims it's going into production soon, and the bike 'has the performance to inspire fun riding in the trial image.' Kitted with an air-cooled 250 CC single on a TZ85 motocrosser chassis, the Tricker rides on a 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels. |
Yamaha claims that the bike is 'a machine that is fun to ride and beautiful to look at.' As for the former, we're willing to accept Yamaha's word, but on the latter, we'll reserve our opinions. |
Swede success? |
And here's news from the sidelines of the motor show. Swedish car-maker, Saab, released this picture of its Subaru WRX wagon-based sporthatch, the 9-2X, at a press event a few days ago in Tokyo. The car didn't feature at the Tokyo Motor show. |
Saab's first production all-wheel-drive five door model will be built in Japan and exported to the US and Canada initially. |
Two versions, the entry-level Linear with a 2500 CC four, and the high-performance Aero, with the WRX's 227 bhp, turbocharged 2000 CC four will comprise the options. |
How did this marriage of quirky Japanese and solid Swedish car-making happen? Well, GM owns large chunks of both companies, remember? And as if to underline the American connection, the 9-2X will make its debut at the upcoming auto show at Los Angeles. |
