No, since the objective has been to broaden the tax base, I think his dependence on tax collection and meeting the deficit revenues are both realistic and achievable.

What announcement was most heartening?

The emphasis on infrastructure and rural development, as also the emphasis on FDI in major sectors. It will provide a major fillip to the economy.

But what is an area of concern?

The implementation of VAT. While the FM has given 1st April as the date for implementation of VAT, a lot will depend on states' efforts to make it a reality. Till concrete steps are taken this will remain a cause for anxiety.
