Come Saturday and the pink city will be host to a ten-day carnival, celebrating the country's rich and vibrant culture.

In a bid to link contemporary Indian art with the traditional and supporting cultural tourism initiatives in Rajasthan, the fifth annual Jaipur Heritage International Festival will be held at 28 venues across Jaipur.

About 200 crafts people, 300 Rajasthani folk artists and 190 national and international performing artists are scheduled to perform in the festival organised by the Jaipur Virasat Foundation, a Rajasthan-based charitable trust with the support of the central and the state governments.

Announcing the itinerary, Director, International Council of Cultural Relations, Pawan Verma, said the festival would provide a "window to show the real, pulsating Indian cultural heritage to the world."

The gala will comprise an array of about 50 programmes on classic and contemporary music, and folk dance forms.
