India won the first of the four One Day Internationals versus West Indies by 14 runs played at Nagpur today.Put in to bat first, India had scored 338 for the loss of three wickets from 50 overs. Saurav Ganguly, who opened the innings, top-scored with 98 runs. The Indian innings ended in a flurry of boundaries as skipper Rahul Dravid (54) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (62) remained unbeaten. West Indies came close to the Indian score but eventually felt short by 14 runs as their innings ended at 324 for the loss of eight wickets. Shivnarine Chanderpaul won the man of the match award for undefeated innings of 149 runs which nearly took the Windies over the finish line. Sourav Ganguly top-scored for India with 98 runs of 109 balls, he was run out.Gautam Gambhir (69), MS Dhoni (62) and Rahul Dravid (54) scored half centuries each.Chris Gayle was the only succesful bolwer, taking two wickets for 51 runs from 9 overs.
