From helping her husband run his exporting business in from a chawl in Borivali, a western suburb of Mumbai, she has come a long way. |

Parekh currently owns two Tanishq showrooms at CG Road and Maninagar in Ahmedabad. |

"This August we will open another showroom at Shivranjani crossroads. The Tanishq CG Road showroom was opened in 1997 and Maninagar showroom was opened last month," said Parekh. |

It was her daughter who introduced the jewellery business idea. "My elder daughter came through an franchisee advertisement of Tata group. That was the beginning." |

Born and brought up in Mumbai, Parekh did her schooling in a Gujarati medium school in Borivali and graduation from K C College, Mumbai. In 1981, Parekh shifted to Ahmedabad with her family. |

"Actually, it was my husband who wanted to shift our base to Ahmedabad. He was looking after the business, initially. But later he decided to hand over it to me as most customers are females and as he thought that I can handle customers better," said Parekh. |

"I learnt business from my father who had a iron factory at Odhav. Apart from this, a lot of things comes from experience. I regularly interact with customers, read their mind and choices on jewellery designs. |
|
"Customers is our main focus and we ordered products and materials according to customer demands," she spells out her secret of success. |

"Business is a learning process and I have learnt all through the years. The stock and the staff are the backbone of our business. |
|
"I personally interact with each and every staff and conduct meeting every Saturday." |

Parekh has two daughters and loves to read and watch television when she gets time. |
|
"I am very fond of Jagjit Singh's gazals and Amitabh Bachchan movies. Apart from these, I read a lot and love to relaxe at home," said Parekh. |
