Karthikeyan seeks government support for F-1 facility

Narain Karthikeyan has requested the Tamil Nadu government for support of the proposal to bring Formula-1 racing to Chennai.

According to a state government release, Karthikeyan met with Tamil Nadu chief minister, J Jayalalithaa in the city. The chief minister promised full support for Karthikeyan's proposal.

Jayalalithaa also pointed out that she had urged the prime minister to establish a motor racing circuit and automobile testing facility at Chennai.

In her letter, the chief minister had drawn attention to the fact that Karthikeyan hails from the state and there was excitement in Chennai about establishing the automobile test track and Formula-1 racing circuit at Chennai.
