No prizes for guessing what the GT40 concept is based on. The original was Ford's response to Ferrari refusing to sell to the Blue Oval, and the car then went on to became a Le Mans legend.

The new iteration is faithful to the original and retains the same mid-engine-rear-wheel-drive layout, with modern touches thrown in. Visually, the differences are subtle and a careful once-over will bring out the subtle alterations. The lights, for instance, are still Le Mans-spec, but sparkle with HIDs and LEDs.

The front cowl is front-hinged like the old GT40 and offers space for a couple of lunch boxes and seats the front suspension. The steeply raked windscreen leads to a superb black and silver cabin with two Recaro seats, a short-throw six speed 'box and some goodies.

Behind sits the massive 5400 CC V8 engine that threatens you with stainless steel exhaust headers and 500 braided horses running amuck. The beast should tickle the fear bones of pedal-to-metal freaks and one hopes this thing makes it to production fast, so all the intakes, scoops and vents can go to work.
