Reed Exhibitions is all set to do serious business in India. |
Starting yesterday, Delhi's Pragati Maidan began hosting a Jewellers' Circular Keystone (JCK) exhibition, a jewellery show organised by Reed Exhibitions, one of the world's leading conference and exhibitions organiser. |
A division of Reed Elsevier, a media company, Reed Exhibitions is best known for running Las Vegas' glittering JCK Show, a major event for the jewellery trade. |
The Indian version of the JCK show is the first test in India of Reed Exhibitions, which launched its office almost six months ago in the NCR. |
"We started looking at the Indian market early last year. The economy is booming here, and we thought it best to provide our expertise in this country," says Mike Allsopp, COO, Reed Exhibitions (India). |
Overall, the company runs over 460 events in 38 countries, bringing together over 90,000 suppliers and more than 5.5 million buyers. It serves 52 industries worldwide. |
Coming back to the JCK show in Pragati Maidan, Reed Exhibitions has invited jewellers from Italy, Hong Kong, Belgium, Israel and the US to showcase their products here. |
"The market is so optimistic, and we are very hopeful to get a good response," says Allsopp. The event will also include Indian jewellery brands. |
"We are targeting the retail community, and it is not open to the masses," he says. The admission price has been kept considerably high (in the Rs 2,000- 3,000 range). |
On display will be gold, platinum and silver jewellery, apart from gemstones, diamonds, watches, clocks and even machinery and tools related to the jewellery business. |
While Indian participating brands include Bapalal Keshavlal, D'damas, Nakshatra, The Rose International, Rosy Blue and Uni-Design, international participants include Backes & Strauss, Hatton Square, Vet Alphi Diamonds and Tache. |
The event is supported by key Indian and international jewellery bodies, including the Indian Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council Platinum Guild, World Gold Council and Diamond Trading Company as show sponsors. |
