Nike, the official apparel sponsor of Indian cricket team, on Wednesday unveiled the new limited-overs Team India uniform that will debut during the India - Australia series beginning October 10.
The uniform is constructed for the first time with 100 per cent recycled polyester fabric that is lightweight, reinforced with increased stretchability, enhanced moisture-wicking capabilities, with improved ventilation zones and first-ever four-way stretch pants. The pants feature a more streamlined, shrink-wrap fit for better movement on the field. The new woven fabric has been introduced to help athletes move better and enhance durability.
Speaking on the occasion Bob Coombes, vice president and general manager, Nike India Pvt Ltd, said, "The country's love for the sport and its team is what drives us to deliver our very best in technology and design to cricket India. This kit combines superior lightweight performance made from 100 percent recycled polyester, causing minimal impact on the environment while ensuring that the design aptly reflects the winning attitude of the team."
The new uniform is a striking contemporary blue, with a textured, premium finish which is designed to enhance the modern requirements of the game and its players. The jersey has a dynamic fit tailored to the athlete's body, a result of 3D body mapping of the world's top athletes and insights from collaboration with the Indian cricket team.
"Cricket unites India. Our passion for cricket has made Team India stronger and scale great heights. Nike, our apparel sponsor, understands the demands of the game on the field, and the passion off the field that fuels the Indian team.
Nike's new uniform embraces this understanding, while keeping innovation at the forefront," said Sanjay Patel, Honorary Secretary, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
